UNIMOG


Our cutom designed Unimog camper, which we call "POD" (Portable Overland Digs), was set up to move the steamboat "Wendigo" from lake to lake for adveture steam expeditions.  When at the Greenwich "PODBASE," we rely on Ronnie Tamburro at Bedford Greenwich Automotive to keep all the exotic machinery in shape for the next trip.  Ronnie is great at diagnosing "alien" technology and ordering parts from around the world (usually Germany in our case).  When we took the truck to Mercedes they wouldn't touch it -- said it wasn't in their database.  Without Ronnie we would be stranded!  Thanks as usual, for keeping us exploring!

DEFENDER
After deciding to install an aftermarket and winch/bull bar combo on my Defender 90 I was in need of an experienced shop that had knowledge of my vehicle.  I called Bedford Greenwich Auto Service after receiving a flyer in the mail and spoke to Ronnie about my plans.  Even though we never spoke before, he assured me that it was a job he'd done many times and that he could take my truck in the following week.  As a first time customer of Bedford Greenwich auto service I brought my Defender 90 into Ronnie with some slight trepidation, however after arriving at the shop and seeing so many Rovers it was clear that my Defender was in good hands.  One week later I came to pick up my truck and was happy to see that the installation of of all parts was done flawlessly, tight down to the electrical work involved with adding turn signals to the lights integrated in the ARB bull bar. 

Just as I was about to pull away we noticed that the truck was not quite sitting level ... after some investigation it turned out that RoversNorth had sent a mislabeled box of rear springs.  Ronnie was instrumental in calling RoversNorth, insisting that they cover the additional labor charges for swapping out the rear springs with the correct set.  On top of that he told me to drop the truck off and he'd have it sone in a day.  It went in on Friday morning and I picked it up on Saturday (he even garaged it over night).  After this experience I really felt that I had made the right choice going to Bedford Greenwich Auto Service and I plan on returning to Ronnie and his team for my next Rover project.
